Master of Ceremonies/ Keynote Speaker - Courtney Greisbach
Courtney is the 16th Editor of The Examiner, moving from The Advocate in 2017, where she was named the first female editor in the Newspaper's 125 year history.
Her dedicated work saw Courtney acknowledged in the Fairfax Women of Influence Awards as the company's Emerging Leader of 2017. The past twelve months has seen Courtney drive several agenda-setting editorial campaigns in The Examiner and across Fairfax Tasmania that has led to genuine change and legislative reform in Tasmania.
In her spare time, Courtney is the public image director for Rotary Tasmania, a committee member and facilitator for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and is a member of the Rotary Club of Central Launceston.
Keynote Speaker - Patsy (Auntie) Cameron
Auntie Patsy Cameron is a Tasmanian Aboriginal Elder whose dedication to Aboriginal education, community affairs and promoting cultural heritage lead to her being inducted into the Tasmanian Women's Honour roll in 2006.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Archaeology and Geography, and a Master of Art in Tasmanian Aboriginal History. Her thought provoking book Grease and Ocher: The blending of two cultures at the colonial sea frontier was published in 2011.
Auntie Patsy continues her passion as a cultural heritage practitioner weaving traditional baskets, creating shell necklaces, working with kelp and whittling wooden implements. She facilitates Cultural Integrity Workshops, conducts interpretive walks on Country, undertakes Aboriginal research projects and cultural field trips around Tasmania, represents and reflects community views on many committees and reference groups and contributes to teaching programs at Riawunna on request.
Keynote Speaker - Dr Rebecca Carey
Dr. Rebecca Carey is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania and former Australian Research Council DECRA fellow in the School of Natural Sciences in the College of Science and Engineering. She is a volcanologist with research themes in earth and marine sciences.
Rebecca’s field of expertise is volcanology, which she has applied to both modern and ancient subaerial and seafloor volcanoes and products. Rebecca has authored more than 37 publications including a chapter in volcanology's leading reference publication The Encyclopedia of Volcanoes.
